Ny Teknik, one of Sweden’s premier technology publications, recently featured Windeed and our innovative floating wind technology. The article highlights our founder and CEO, Bertil Moritz, who described our floating wind turbine concept as “the Billy bookshelf of wind power” due to its modular design. This unique structure is designed for industrial-scale production, setting us apart from traditional, material-intensive offshore designs. The article details our recent wave tank tests at Aalborg University in Denmark, which confirmed the stability and resilience of our lightweight floating foundation. Designed with a central tower anchored by three buoyant steel cylinders, our system uses advanced materials to ensure minimal wear and maximum durability, even in rough sea conditions. Our approach achieves comparable LCOE to land-based wind power. This recognition by Ny Teknik underscores our uniqueness and the market's interest in Windeed's solution. Read the article here .

A group of six resourceful students from Uppsala University have significantly contributed to floating wind farm development during their three-month research project at Windeed. The students, Mattias Blavier, Elin Granath, Emelie Jin, Elin Johansson, Axel Svensson, and Kristina Thylin, embarked on this project as part of their Bachelor Theses in the energy systems program. Their research aimed to optimize the Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) for a typical floating wind farm site, scrutinizing several factors including wind rose data, turbine wake effects, bathymetry, and mooring system requirements. Tom McKay, Project Development Lead at Windeed, commended the students' contribution to the organization, stating, "Their time here has been a valuable learning journey, benefiting both the students and Windeed alike." Floating wind power is recognized by one of the most cost-effective ways to quickly increase renewable energy production with minimal impact on urban and rural landscapes. The research conducted by these students has provided fresh insights into this form of energy production, reinforcing its potential for the future. Windeed applauds the hard work and dedication displayed by the students from Uppsala University and looks forward to observing their continued contributions to renewable energy in the future.
